There is parking at approximately 53.78113,-2.772034 there are well made paths most of the way the way but there are over fifteen rustic stone steps, of course the final decision is, as always, yours. Hope this helps

Canal towpath to within 50 meters of cache access vis preston sports centre. Assistance is needed to retrieve the cache.
